Pillow Block Bearings
A pillow block is a bearing already mounted in a housing, so a shaft can be supported without machining a seat for the bearing itself. The housing bolts straight to a frame, which is why these units are standard on conveyors, agricultural machinery, and general plant.

About pillow block bearings
What do UCP, UCF, and UCFL mean?
They describe the housing rather than the bearing. UCP is a pillow block, which bolts to a surface parallel to the shaft. UCF is a square flange and UCFL a two-bolt flange, both of which bolt to a surface perpendicular to the shaft. The insert bearing is often the same across them.
How do I identify the bearing I need?
By the number stamped on the existing unit, and by the shaft diameter. The number encodes the bore size, so a 204 takes a 20mm shaft and a 205 takes 25mm. Bring the old unit or the number and the shaft size and we can match it.
What is a take-up unit for?
It lets the bearing slide within a frame so the shaft position can be adjusted, which is how belt or chain tension is set and maintained on a conveyor as the belt stretches in service.
