Fiber Cement Board
Fiber cement board is a sheet made from cement reinforced with cellulose fibre. Unlike plywood or gypsum it does not rot, is not attacked by termites, and holds up in damp conditions, which is why it is standard for eaves, ceilings, and wet area linings in a tropical climate.

About fiber cement board
Why use fiber cement instead of plywood or gypsum?
It does not rot, termites do not eat it, and it tolerates moisture far better than gypsum board. In a humid climate with a real termite risk those advantages usually outweigh the fact that it is heavier and harder to cut.
Which thickness should I use?
Thinner boards suit ceilings and eaves where framing supports them at close centres. Thicker boards are for partitions and anywhere the sheet needs to resist impact or span further. The framing spacing and the application govern the choice.
How is it cut and fixed?
It is scored and snapped, or cut with a blade made for fiber cement. Cutting produces silica dust, so the work needs dust control and respiratory protection. It is fixed with nails or screws made for the board, which sit flush without cracking it.
