Why is PPR used for hot water when PVC is not?
PPR keeps its strength at the temperatures hot water systems run at. Ordinary PVC softens and loses pressure rating when heated, so it is not suitable for hot supply.
What is heat fusion?
The pipe and fitting are heated until the surfaces melt, then pushed together. The two fuse into a single piece of material, so the joint is as strong as the pipe. It needs the right tool and correct heating time.
Can PPR fittings be used with other pipe?
No. Fittings are matched to the pipe system and the fusion process. Mixing systems produces joints that leak.
