About masonry and aggregates
What is the difference between washed and unwashed sand?
Washed sand has had silt and clay removed. Those fines interfere with the cement bond, so washed sand generally produces stronger, more predictable concrete and mortar. Unwashed sand is used where that matters less.
What are AAC panels?
Autoclaved aerated concrete, a lightweight material full of small air cells. Panels go up faster than laying block, weigh less on the structure, and insulate better, though they are handled and fixed differently.
How is gravel graded?
By particle size. The grade affects workability and strength, and the design normally specifies which to use. Tell us the mix and we will confirm what is appropriate.
