About pvc sanitary pipe
Can PVC sanitary pipe be used for water supply?
No. Sanitary pipe is made for gravity drainage and is not rated for pressure. Pressurised supply needs pipe rated for the working pressure of the system, which is a different product.
What does Series 500 mean?
It designates the pipe class, which relates wall thickness to diameter. It matters because fittings and jointing are matched to the series, so mixing classes on one run can cause problems at the joints.
How are PVC pipes joined?
Normally by solvent welding, where a cement chemically fuses the pipe to the fitting. The joint has to be clean, dry, and properly seated, and it needs time to cure before the line is used.
