Steel Matting and Wire
This group covers welded and woven wire products. Steel matting is a welded mesh used to reinforce slabs and screed. The fencing wires, barbed, hog, cyclone, and razor, enclose and secure a boundary, and tie wire is what holds a reinforcing cage together before the pour.

About steel matting and wire
What is steel matting used for?
Welded mesh laid in slabs, screeds, and pavements to control cracking and distribute load. Because it comes as a sheet with the bars already spaced and welded, it goes down far faster than tying individual bars.
What does the gauge number mean on wire?
It is the thickness of the wire, and the scale runs backwards, so a lower number is a thicker wire. A #6 wire is thicker than a #10. Thicker wire is stronger and lasts longer in the ground or the weather.
What is the difference between hog wire and cyclone wire?
Hog wire is a welded or woven mesh with rectangular openings, often used for livestock and general boundary fencing. Cyclone wire is the diamond-pattern chain link mesh, which is more flexible and is the usual choice for perimeter fencing around properties.
Should fencing wire be galvanized?
Outdoors, almost always. Bare steel wire rusts quickly in a humid climate, and a fence is difficult and expensive to replace. Galvanizing adds meaningfully to service life for a small difference in cost.
