Questions

About electrical devices

How is a circuit breaker rated?

By the current it will carry continuously and the fault current it can safely interrupt. Both matter, and both come from the electrical design rather than from what fits the enclosure.

What is the difference between RSC, IMC, and EMT fittings?

They match the conduit type they are made for and are not interchangeable. RSC and IMC are threaded; EMT uses compression or set-screw fittings. Order fittings to match the conduit you are running.

Why do connections need lugs?

A lug gives a proper mechanical and electrical connection between a conductor and a terminal. A cable twisted onto a terminal without one works loose, heats up, and eventually fails.
