About painting tools
Roller or brush?
A roller covers a large flat area far faster and more evenly. A brush is for cutting in at edges, corners, and detail. Most jobs use both.
What does the nap on a roller mean?
The length of the pile. A short nap suits smooth surfaces and gives a fine finish; a longer nap holds more paint and reaches into rough or textured surfaces like blockwork.
Why use masking tape rather than working carefully?
It is faster and the line is cleaner. Remove it while the paint is still slightly soft, since tape pulled off fully cured paint can lift the edge with it.
