What does a P-trap actually do?
It holds a small amount of water in a bend, which seals the drain and stops sewer gas coming back up through the fixture. If a fixture smells, a dry or missing trap is the usual reason.
Why does a float valve matter in a tank?
It shuts off the inlet when the tank reaches level, so the tank fills and stops without supervision. A failed float valve is the most common cause of an overflowing tank.
Which pump do I need?
That depends on the flow you need, how high you are lifting the water, and whether the pump is submerged or drawing from a suction line. Tell us the situation rather than the horsepower.
